Thrive Yoga and Wellness studio is bidding farewell to summer with the inaugural Thrive Yoga Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Audubon Acres.
The festival will make full use of the 130-acre sanctuary — which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year — with activities that highlight different areas of the property, said Thrive owner Jennifer Dixon.
“It’s going to be a family friendly event, and a it’s a really great way to experience some of the outdoor stuff Chattanooga has to offer,” Dixon said, adding that she immediately fell in love with the East Brainerd nature preserve, which is located just five minutes from Thrive.
The day begins with a 5k race for adults and a 3k race for kids, both of which are being led in partnership with local trail protection nonprofit Wild Trails.
The wellness focused event continues with a full schedule of activities including guided meditation hikes through the woods, chakra dance, Pilates and, of course, various types of yoga: aerial, vinyasa flow, gentle flow, HIIT (high-intensity interval training) and kundalini. Attendees can also try out high-intensity training exercises with the team from Orange Theory Fitness Hixson.
Kids can get in on the fun as well with arts, crafts and children’s yoga led by Young Yogalettes.
The event also features live music from The Spinsters, a drum circle, vendors offering wellness related products and services, healthy and organic food vendors, and more.
The cost for adults is $55, which includes unlimited yoga, and $30 for children, which covers one kids’ yoga class and 2.5 hours in the children’s activity area. Proceeds benefit Audubon Acres and Wild Trails.
All attendees will receive a swag bag worth $100 in discounts and free stuff, such as a reusable bag from Athleta. There will also be raffle drawings for prizes from businesses including REI and Sigler’s Craft Beer.
Registration can be done online or the day of the event, although popular activities are filling up fast, said Dixon. RSVP is required for SUP yoga.
