  • Delhi High Court observed that teachers on duty during the coronavirus pandemic are akin to corona warriors.
  • Recently, the SC took a serious view on the non-payment of salaries and non-arrangement of proper accommodation for doctors and healthcare workers for quarantine purposes.

The Delhi High Court observed on Friday that teachers on duty during the coronavirus pandemic are akin to corona warriors. More than 5,400 teachers are on COVID-19 duty as 299 schools run by NDMC have been taken by the Delhi government for providing dry ration and cooked meals to needy persons during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The HC was hearing a plea seeking directions to the authorities to pay their salaries since March.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court took a serious view on the non-payment of salaries and non-arrangement of proper accommodation for the doctors and healthcare workers for quarantine purposes and told the government that they must ensure that the corona warriors are not unhappy.

Recently, Yamaha India and Mahindra and Mahindra had announced a set of offers for frontline workers to appreciate their efforts that have kept India’s fight going against the deadly virus despite the continually mounting pressure.

The number of confirmed cases crossed 5.28 lakh in India, although in good news the number of recovered cases is in excess of the active cases. The global case count has exceeded one crore and more than five lakh lives have been lost to coronavirus.

Healthcare professionals, policemen, railway and airline staff, media professionals, and government employees are all risking their lives to help others. This Monday, let us take inspiration from 1,58,96,093 COVID warriors on the line of duty and win the battle against COVID-19.
