Gaithersburg Announces Openings for Yoga, Meditation and Fitness Classes – Montgomery Community Media

To help residents de-stress during the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Gaithersburg is offering outdoor yoga, meditation and fitness classes starting the week of July 6.

“Keep Calm with Yoga and Meditation in the Park” sessions are free and open to anyone 16 and older. Outdoor recreation classes require registration and have varying prices, limited spaces and differing age requirements. Masks and social distancing will still be necessary for all participants, along with bringing their own yoga mats and water bottles, according to a City of Gaithersburg press release.

Free yoga and meditation sessions have spaces limited to 50 people. The locations, dates, and times for these activities are below:

  • Yoga in the Park (City Hall Concert Pavilion, 31 South Summit Avenue)
    • Tuesdays, July 7 – August 25
      7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Meditation in the Park (Kentlands Green, 117 Kent Square Road)
    • Wednesdays, July 8 – 29
      7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

The locations, dates and times for recreational classes that require registration are specified below:

  • City Hall Concert Pavilion (31 South Summit Avenue):
    • Core and Cardio: Mondays and Wednesdays, 7 p.m.
    • High-Intensity Interval Training: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:15 a.m.
    • PiYo: Thursdays, 7 p.m.
    • Yoga Vinyasa: Saturdays, 9 a.m.
  • Kentlands Green (117 Kent Square Road):
    • Dance Fitness: Tuesdays, 7 p.m.
  • Main Street Pavilion (301 Main Street):
    • Dance WERQ IT: Tuesdays, 7 p.m.
    • Yoga – Building on Basic Poses: Fridays, 9 a.m.
    • Stretch and Balance: Fridays, 10:15 a.m.
